AI readiness diagnostic: 10 questions before you invest

Service: AI readiness assessment in Puerto Rico

Evolving Space Labs is an AI engineering team in Puerto Rico that helps businesses decide, with evidence instead of guesswork, whether a process is worth automating before spending on AI tools. This guide gathers the 10 questions worth answering before you invest.

You do not need to know anything technical to answer them. You need to know one process in your company well and have the person who does it every day close by.

What is an AI readiness diagnostic, and why do it before you invest?

An AI readiness diagnostic is a structured conversation about one specific process in your business: how long it takes your team today, how often it repeats and what happens when it goes wrong.

Those answers tell you whether automating it makes sense before you commit budget to a tool you might not need.

The 10 questions

  1. Which specific process do you want to improve?

One concrete process, not the whole company.

  2. How many times a month does that task repeat?

The more it repeats, the faster the investment pays back.

  3. What rules does your team follow to do it today?

Are they written down, or does only one person know them?

  4. What happens when that task goes wrong or falls behind?

That measures the real cost of keeping it as it is.

  5. Which systems do you use for that process today?

    Invoicing, CRM, spreadsheets, WhatsApp.

  6. Who on your team knows the full process?

Someone has to be able to make decisions about it.

  7. How much of your team’s time frees up if it stops being done by hand?

That time is what you are really buying: hours for your customers and your decisions.

  8. Which part of the process should a person keep reviewing?

Anything that touches customers or money stays with someone on your team approving.

  9. Is the data for that process somewhere accessible?

Or does it live only in someone’s head?

  10. How soon do you need to see results?

Weeks versus months changes what kind of project makes sense.

What the diagnostic tells you

The diagnostic tells you what can be automated, in what order and what needs to be prepared first. The decision and final approval stay with your team.

Sometimes the answer is that automating does not make sense yet. Phase 1 of your roadmap may be data and process work, not AI. If that is what we find, that is what we recommend: it is a real result from a real diagnostic.

What happens next

If it makes sense to move forward, the next step is Automation and Integration: we connect the tools you already use, without replacing them, and the process works with your team supervising.
